“Recess” – a photographic documentation
Since 2017 I’ve been documenting the summer recess of the atelier work, making one photo per year. It began with the idea that there is no true break in the artist’s work. There is a view on the passage of time through a summer day in the atelier. And there is an atelier with an active person in it.

About Recess 2018
Recess 2018 is a page from the book Askitiki – Salvatores Dei (Ascesis – The Saviors of God) by Nikos Kazantzakis. There was no recess nor anything normal that summer. My mother was on her death bed, on a long agonizing way out. This page is from a book that she had kept close; the marks on the margin are hers.
What is meant by happiness? To live every unhappiness. What is meant by light? To gaze with an undimmed eye on all darknesses.
We are a humble letter, a syllable, a word out of a gigantic Odyssey. We are sunk in a gigantic song and we shine just like the humble pebbles do for as long as they stay immersed in the sea.
