Sand paper in drawing
Sand paper tied to hand made paper, forgrounding labour and craft in art.
In the studio we use our domestic resources. What’s that? In this case, sandpaper—typically associated with manual labour rather than fine art—becomes both a surface material and a site of expression. This rough paper is naturally scratched, torn, or coloured, during casual preparatory work in the studio. Then it switches purpose and is used as a drawing material or surface; eventually bound to more common materials.
As a result, these works’ material tag is:
Sand paper and ink drawing on handmade paper; other materials: cotton paper and book binding tape.
